OpenText Cloud Content Services come to SAP Cloud Platform and SAP applications

The story of content services in the cloud is about to get whole lot more interesting. Today at SAP’s annual conference, Sapphire Now, the company announced that it is expanding its partnership with OpenText. Together they will work on making content services available across SAP cloud applications via SAP’s Cloud Platform (SCP).

“These services and automatic document processing can help customers improve collaboration along the entire business process, meet compliance requirements, and increase productivity,” says Gunther Rothermel, SVP, Head of SAP Cloud Platform at SAP.

“We bring together structured and unstructured information to deliver content in context of key business processes. With the new generation of cloud-based content services, we are expanding our successful partnership and providing a harmonized information service offering for businesses that use SAP solutions,” according to OpenText CEO and CTO Mark Barrenechea.

The audience for this product offering is massive, given that SCP, which is still fairly new, has more than 10,000 customers and that as many as 77 percent of the world’s transactions touch SAP.

And many of these processes are document intensive, ranging from creating, revising and collaborating on sales contracts to on-boarding a new employee.

“The on-boarding process of a new employee is one of the most document-intensive processes within HR,” explains Hans-Gerd Schaal, vice president of strategic initiatives at OpenText. Using OpenText Core for SAP Success Factors, which is available today and was announced earlier this week, “We can simplify many of these processes. For example, to validate an employee’s authorization to work within a certain region or country, an employer using Success Factors with OpenText Core can send the new employee an email, with an embedded link, requesting the employee upload a copy of their valid work permit. The employee selects the link and through simple drag and drop, uploads the work permit to the HR business partner for review.
